Staff Hiring
Branches at Meadowbrook hires approximately 140 staff members each summer, chosen for their skills, passions, depth of experience, strength of character, and embodiment of Meadowbrook’s mission to know, love, and challenge every child.
Hiring Process
Hiring happens on a rolling basis throughout the winter and spring until all positions are filled. Summer staff are selected after a thorough and thoughtful process that includes:

Interview: We will reach out to schedule an interview with those applicants who submit a completed application. We have zoom and in person options.
Reference Checks: Applicants should submit references from work and/or school who can attest to their qualifications and character.
State & National Criminal Background Checks: All offers of employment are tentative pending a CORI and SORI. If you are from out of state background checks will be done for Massachusetts and your state of residence.

Bus Monitors
Start your day on the bus with our campers from various communities. A great opportunity for staff who would also like a ride to work every day. Responsibilities include greeting campers at each stop, managing seating and behavior, and building relationships with campers as soon as they start their day! Monitors are required to join the bus at its first stop each day. Additional compensation will be provided.
Extended Day
AM: 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.
PM: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Extended Day staff will supervise breakfast (AM) or snack (PM), games, activities, and the arrival/dismissal of Extended Day participants from any of our Branches programs. Additional compensation will be provided.

Staff FAQs

The majority of our programs will run from June 15- August 21.
Branches will be closed June 19 and July 3, 2026.
The work day runs Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., for most positions. We do have limited part time roles available in some of our programs. Specific roles may have responsibilities outside of those hours, which will be described in your interview and employment offer.
The last day of the summer season (August 14th)will be a half-day until 12 noon for participants. Staff will work through 4:30 p.m. helping to pack up equipment and close camp.
Our preference is to hire staff who are available to work for the duration of the program, but will consider candidates who have at least 4 weeks available. Please indicate your anticipated availability on your staff application.
All staff are required to attend our staff training dates. Most training dates run from 8:15am - 4:30pm.

Candidates for the position of Campers Assistant Counselor must be 16 by the start of camp. Limited junior counselor positions are available for 15 year olds.
Candidates for the position of Mazemakers Junior Counselor must be 15 by the start of camp.
All employees under the age of 18 must obtain the necessary work permit for 14-17 year-olds as required by Massachusetts state law.

Branches programs run from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Staff members arrive at 8:00 a.m., and may leave after the campers depart at the end of the day. Typically by 4:30pm.
Most mornings begin with a staff meeting and/or preparations for arrival.
As a staff member in any program, you will be involved with your campers and their activities throughout the day, including lunch.
You will have a paid 30 minute break during the day, when you can relax away from campers, check in at home, and enjoy time with other staff.
At the end of each day, most programs gather together for and end-of-day Circle or for our Whole Camp assembly on Fridays - a chance to share songs, cheers, friendly group competitions, and demonstrations/camper performances.

No! Branches staff in all programs will receive a complimentary lunch. Daily options include hot entrées, salads, sandwiches, fresh fruit, etc. While the menu is designed primarily with children in mind, there are plenty of options for adults. Staff are expected to sit with and supervise campers during lunch.
Branches can accommodate most food allergies and needs. Please speak with the Director.

Your personal appearance is important. Keep in mind that the children in your care look up to you and will emulate you in every way.
All Branches staff are required to wear a provided staff shirt daily.
Flip-flops are not permitted for staff or participants. Open-toe shoes or sandals must secure the entire foot and heel (e.g. Tevas, Chacos, etc).
We recommend athletic or casual shorts for comfort throughout the day.
Having fun can be messy! Staff should be mindful of the possibility of spills or stains while participating in various activities with their campers.

We want to start our summer with fun- just like the campers. In addition to getting to know each other we with gather both as a camp community and as individual programs to discuss behavior management, activity facilitation, conflict resolution, DEIJ, Special Needs, Preventing and Responding to Child abuse and more.
Training will be over 3-5 days depending on your position and all days/times are REQUIRED.
Specific roles may require additional training sessions or certification classes, which will be outlined in your interview and employment agreement.

While Branches is comprised of multiple programs with various roles and responsibilities, together we form one Branches community, dedicated to providing our campers with a positive, meaningful experience.
Branches staff in all programs are expected to do their best through words, actions, and attitudes to meet our goal: to know, love, and celebrate every child.

Yes. Summer staff members may enroll their dependent children for our Campers program free of charge. If you want your child to attend our specialty programs you may pay the difference for tuition.
